AOTM: Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan Announce Summer 2018 Tour

Two of America’s best-loved bands from the 70s and 80s have announced a summer 2018 tour. The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan will co-headline a summer tour starting in May.

Fans attending the concerts will notice original members of Steely Dan and the Doobies on stage.  Steely Dan has had many incarnations over the years with key founding members Donald Fagen and Walter Becker; however, Becker passed away in 2017. Fagen wanted to retire the Steely Dan name after his death, but promoters recommended he not do so, which leaves the current incarnation of the group. Likewise, The Doobies have gone through many incarnations in their career. Currently, fans will see original members Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons along with newest member John McFee and a group of touring members. No matter how many incarnations of the bands, both have remained dedicated to the integrity of each group and their fan base.

Dedicated fans will also notice this isn’t the first time Steely Dan and The Doobies have crossed paths musically. Doobie alums Jeff Baxter and Michael McDonald are also alums of Steely Dan. While neither of the alums will be on tour with the bands this summer, it’s interesting to note the crossover of musical talent between the two as they venture out to entertain audiences together.

The tour begins in South Carolina and makes it way close to the area in June with three dates to choose from:

06/15/2018 – Saint Paul, MN @ Xcel Energy Center
06/16/2018 – Madison, WI @ Breese Stevens
06/21/2018 – Chicago, IL @ Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Tickets range in price from $66 to upwards of $370.00 depending on ticket package purchased. Fans should note that the $300 tickets are reselling at about $2000, so getting them directly from Ticketmaster is the best and most reasonable choice.

Two of America’s best-loved bands from the 70s and 80s are touring this summer, and this isn’t the first time Steely Dan and The Doobies have crossed paths musically. Both original and touring members will entertain audiences on a 30-date tour beginning in May.
