Summer means warm weather, beaches, late night bonfires, and awesome concerts. Well, the 2017 summer concert season just got a bit better. Two powerhouse bands from the seventies and eighties are schedule to headline two festivals this year.
Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles are the headlining acts for the Classic East and Classic West Festivals happening in July. Each festival will feature the groups, as well as other artists for two days of music galore. Classic East will take place at Citi Field in New York and Classic West will happen at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles (billboard.com). The hope is for the festivals to become annual events.
Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles have not publicly confirmed their participation, but it will be significant concerts for both bands this year. The festivals are potentially the only two dates Fleetwood Mac has scheduled this year (talks of a late 2017 tour have been tossed around, but not confirmed). Likewise, the two festivals will be the first concerts The Eagles will perform since the passing of fellow Eagle Glenn Frey in 2016. If all works out, the two powerhouse bands will headline two amazing festivals this summer, and showcase their discographies of music.
Although the headliners have yet to publicly confirm, details about the festivals are being released. The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan will open for the Eagles with Journey and Earth, Wind, & Fire opening for Fleetwood Mac (ultimateclassicrock.com). Both festivals will be identical and take place within two weeks of each other. Ticket information has not been released, however, speculations of price range from a couple hundred to over one thousand dollars can be expected depending on the final number of artists performing and the ticket package people decide to purchase.
Summer is not only warmer, but also filled with music concerts. The Classic East and Classic West Festivals have the potential to be annual events with the inaugural ones headlined by Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles. Fans will have to wait in anticipation until more details are released on these two summer music festivals, however, it will be worth the wait.
