Styx has four certified platinum albums selling over thirty-five million albums worldwide. They have sixteen Top 40 singles with eight of those singles reaching into the Top 10. The magic and artistry of Styx cannot be denied. Blending rock, pop, and theatrics, the band was not only able to reach super stardom, they also crafted some of the best-loved and well-known songs of a generation. One of the creative minds behind the artistry is Dennis DeYoung. An accomplished songwriter, compositionist, and nominated actor, DeYoung continues to tour sharing both Styx and solo material. With DeYoung scheduled at Summerfest this year, fans will have the opportunity to get a multiple doses of Styx this summer.
Both Styx and Dennis DeYoung have summer gigs scheduled making multiple doses of Styx quite possible. Fans who love the band will have the opportunity to see both, if they choose. Styx is out on tour with REO Speedwagon and Don Felder this summer, and will perform at Tinley Park in June (styxworld.com). Likewise, DeYoung will perform at Summerfest in July. Both bands offer not only professional shows, but all-around excellent live shows. Fans will not be disappointed by either concert this summer.

While both are touring this summer, Dennis DeYoung is going to be around Wisconsin more than once. DeYoung still hails from the Chicago area and has a number of Illinois dates, as well as a Chippewa Falls date scheduled in mid-July. DeYoung says of Styx and its musical legacy, “I am constantly amazed, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, that the (STYX) music has touched so many people for such a long time, it really is a testament to the songs. Because, strip it all away, it is the songs that matter to people. You get the song right and the people respond (summerfest.com).” DeYoung is a top notch performer, dedicated musician, and someone who appreciates the fans. He also understands the impact that his music and the music of Styx has played in people’s lives. It’s more than lyrics and notes on a page, or sound to fill the airwaves. The music of Styx continues to relate to those who listen.
